- A comprehensive noise survey was undertaken throughout this busy facility. The occupational noise levels were determined and contours plotted of each protection zone. AutoCAD plans were developed for the whole site depicting noise concentration profiles. Occupational health noise warning signs were designed, and their installation supervised. Noise monitoring was undertaken throughout the facility to enable statutory protection measures to be designed and implemented.
- Plume dispersion models were created using ADMS3 to evaluate the potential impact of air emissions
- A comprehensive desk study and subsequent site investigation was undertaken to establish the contamination profile in the soils and groundwater beneath the operational refinery.
- A site investigation, comprising both boreholes and trial pits, was undertaken to allow determination of the groundwater quality beneath the refinery. We have undertaken monitoring of the groundwater quality on a monthly basis. The results of groundwater montioring have been used to develop a 3D groundwater model within Visual MODFLOW.
- ExCAL were retained to undertake an assessment of the measures required to restore a former on-site landfill. The site lies adjacent to a river and contains soluble metal salts.
- A site investigation was designed prior to demolition of a redundant production facility. Boreholes were provided with permanent monitoring wells to allow groundwater to be sampled and analysed during demolition of the structure.
- The atmospheric distribution of metals around INCO was analysed using moss bags. The project was undertaken over a 12 month period. Detailed statistical analysis was undertaken to allow various types of emissions to be identified.
- * ExCAL provided full support to INCO's application for an IPPC permit. We conducted a gap analysis and provided advice on Phases IA and IB/II of the Site Report. ExCAL prepared the site closure plan, conducted boundary noise surveys, provided justifications for some of the discharges and conducted a drainage survey.
- A best value analysis on the medical provisions at the refinery.
