Geographic Information Systems
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a software solution that allows you to analyse any data with a locational component in its geographical context. The system allows you to visualise, manage, analyse and even create geographical data. Data may be structured to form an almost infinite array of logical layers that may be switched on and off or combined in a wide variety of ways to allow the ready identification of relationships or patterns in the data.
Data stored in this manner provides a flexible decision making tool that is an invaluable problem solving aid. The maps that are produced from the data you select allow you to answer the important where questions associated with so many project management challenges. You can readily select all those records that fall within an area or are located within a specified distance of any location or route. All your data can be made available for you to interrogate in any way you chose enabling the production of maps to share with customers and colleagues often complex spatial relationships in a clear, simple and concise manner.
ExCAL has wide experience with GIS software including ArcView and Mapinfo, the two foremost desktop GIS software solutions, and we would work closely with you to build a GIS solution tailored to your needs.
